I love art. Especially décollage art. I work with torn down posters, antique books, old city maps, historic photographs and prints, paper from all around the world and many other materials. Putting them together, creating a new story of past and present days, mixing up street art with historical art works is always a great adventure.
My pictures contain between four and seven layers. The foundation can be an abstract art work made of acrylic paint or a décollage made of old newspapers, maps, books or posters.
The material I use for the next layers depends on the story I want to tell. But the technique is always the same: a mixture of gluing, tearing apart and painting.
Nowadays there are so many outstanding artists in the world, but unfortunately not a lot of décollage artists. The technique has its origin in “Nouveau Réalisme” (new realism), Paris' answer to the American Pop Art movement of the 1960s.
As a teenager in Berlin I worked in an art gallery on the weekends. I learned all about the background of the pictures and the artists. After opening hours I often stood in front of an art work that had already been sold and thought, what a tragedy that only one person can have it.
So when I created the first picture of my HIDDEN IN BERLIN collection I decided to hold on to the original art piece and sell limited premium art prints. Each picture of my editions is limited to 100 pieces and numbered from 1/100 to 100/100. All of my art prints are “Made in Germany” by the photo lab White Wall, winner of TIPA World Awards in 2013, 2017 and 2020 in the category “Best Photo Lab Worldwide”. All pictures come with a pre-mounted hanging system.
An Art Box frame made of glazed, black aluminum turns each art piece of the HIDDEN IN BERLIN collection into a sculptural object. The frame depths vary from 2.5 cm for the smaller to 5 cm for the larger pictures. An original photo print under acrylic glass provides a crystal clear view of the art piece and turns it into a true eye catcher. Besides its premium finish, each HIDDEN IN BERLIN art work comes with a wooden certificate box. It contains a certificate sticker for the back of the picture and a certificate made of special art paper, numbered and signed by the artist, giving the art piece its uniqueness.
A black iron logo button can be fixed on the right hand side of the picture frame to brand the art piece with the elegant Sarah Hidden H-logo.
The outstanding special feature of the box is an antique golden certificate coin that lends the box the charm of a treasure chest. The golden coin is also numbered, signed, and one of a kind.
The HIDDEN IN TOKYO collection shows the stunning landscapes of Japan in a mixture of the old and new Japan – a connection between woodblock prints of the Edo period and modern art. To keep the nature of the picture alive I chose a wooden Art Box for the Tokyo collection. There is no substitute for the innate warmth and natural flair of wood.
The wooden Art Box subtly frames your photo when viewed from the front, but shows impressive depth (3.5 cm) when viewed from the side. The solid wood substantiates the natural appearance of the art work.
All pictures of the HIDDEN IN TOKYO collection come with a luxury leather certificate folder. It contains a certificate sticker for the back of the picture and a certificate made of special art paper, numbered and signed by the artist, giving the art piece its uniqueness.
When I created the first BANKSY IS A GIRL art piece I already knew that I had to put it in the right spotlight with a striking Pop Art Acrylic Frame made of a glossy material with a luminous neon look. With their fluorescent effect in neon red, orange, or blue, the three different transparent Pop Art Frames create a bold accent.
For a subtler effect you can choose the glossy white or black versions of the frame. The subdued colors and opaque material create a very refined accent in the overall presentation of the BANKSY IS A GIRL collection. The shiny, smooth acrylic glass reflects light that falls on it, bringing out the best of the art piece.
For an additional feeling of modern lightness, a 4 mm gap makes the art piece look like it is floating inside the frame.
