In addition to the LIMITED EDITION PRINTS, my art collection contains the sculpture Little Hiding Hood. She symbolizes myself as a child. I always loved fairy tales and Little Red Riding Hood was one of my favorites. I often imagined myself in the woods and parks of Berlin being hunted by a wolf or the Erlkönig – a great game we could play for hours.
Little Hiding Hood is a myth. She was always here and always will be. She wanders through Berlin, always curious, with a great imagination, longing for adventures and looking at the world with big blue eyes, trying not to miss anything.
Her cape reflects the experiences she has made over all these years through freedom and war, separation and unification, love and hate. And if you are visiting Berlin and listen carefully, you might hear her whispering words of wisdom, like rustling leaves in the wind.
My art piece is transferred to the sculpture in a special water-slide process. Therefore every sculpture is one of a kind and has a unique look.
Little Hiding Hood is also limited to 100 figurines for each design. She is numbered and signed at the bottom.
“Whispering trees and moaning wood,
through the night wanders Hiding Hood.
The moon lights up her big blue eyes,
she is adventurous, passionate and wise.
Future, now and yesteryear,
Hiding Hood was always here.
To watch the great city, trying to find
the greatness and kindness of mankind.
Her capereflects what she explores,
historic moments, freedom and wars.
Fairytales, unity, friendship and love,
a guardian angel watching above.
The gate to wonderland open for all,
celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall.
It’s time to let new adventures begin
in the beautiful city of Berlin.”
As a child I loved treasure hunts – and I still do. For every one of my children’s birthday parties I organize extensive treasure hunts. In India I used our big garden area and in Tokyo the parks in Denenchofu. And for Little Hiding Hood I created a special antique Certificate Coin and hid it under her feet in the Treasure Box. The golden coin is numbered, signed, and it too is one of a kind.
